About Austin Recovery

Austin Recovery is a nonprofit, CARF accredited, chemical dependency treatment center offering affordable, effective and compassionate alcohol & drug treatment to over 2,000 self-funded as well as government funded clients annually.  Our continuum of services includes four Austin campuses that provide detox, short and long term, gender specific residential and outpatient programs, a unique women w/children program as well as a new men’s transitional living facility. Established in 1967, Austin Recovery has an annual budget of $8 million, is governed and supported by a deeply committed 21-member Board and currently has no debt associated with its substantial assets.

The Opportunity - CEO

The Board of Directors of Austin Recovery is seeking a CEO with leadership, vision and passion to sustain and build on the high quality programs currently offered in Texas’ capital city. This position requires the ability to provide strategic direction, act as a visionary team leader, impact fundraising and marketing, and serves as a key community leader.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in big picture, strategic leadership, effected revenue through innovative programming, have the business acumen to implement a potential 40% growth opportunity and have10 years of experience in the fiscal management and operation of a large organization. A compensation package commensurate with education and experience is offered.

Summary of the Position

Reporting directly to the Board of Director the CEO has primary management and leadership responsibilities for all operations of Austin Recovery, including financial viability, planning, budgeting and resource management, daily operations, strategic initiatives, and Board relations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advises the Board on all strategic business development and key agency planning issues, while making recommendations on major business decisions.
  • Develop, recommend and monitor performance of organizational programs and service and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to the agency’s fiscal programming, budgeting and accountability with regular reporting monthly to the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee all hiring, training, supervising and development of key supervisory employees
  • Responsible for all risk-management policies, procedures and operations including worker’s compensation, property and casualty insurance, safety and liability.
  • Provide an active and visible relationship to, for and with the community.
  • Anticipate and identify emerging community needs and issues with respect to treatment of chemical dependency and recommend responses and actions
  • Establish and maintain relationships with chemical dependency organizations, funding sources and other appropriate organizations.
  • Oversee communications to the general public to promote understanding and support of Austin Recovery endeavors.
  • Coordinate recruitment and training of Board members and volunteers to broaden Austin Recovery’s programs and services.
  • Supervises contractual and cooperative working agreements.
  • Supervises and ensures compliance with all program-related contractual requirements of government funding entities, as well as management of the program components of all grants and contracts.
  • Assists in identifying and soliciting donors and volunteers.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years operational management experience
  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred experience with a non-profit and/or chemical dependency organization
