Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Austin Recovery provides affordable, effective and compassionate drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are currently seeking two LVN Nurses for various PRN shifts on our detox unit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Make relevant entries in client medical charts
- Monitor client vital signs for withdrawal signs/symptoms
- Administer medication when ordered by Medical Director
- Wirte reports as required
- Assist physician during medical history interviews and physical exams
- Complete nursing assessment on clients admitted to detox
- Maintain unit milieu and provide a safe and secure environment
- Attend job-related meetings; in-service training and staff development training
- Perform other related assignments as directed by Director of Nursing
Qualifications:
- Current Texas LVN credentials
- Experience in psychiatric or substance abuse nursing preferred
- Good communication skills, ability to work with co-workers and establish rapport with clients
- Skill to coordinate work with other Austin Recovery departments, agencies, organizations, individuals and the public
- Ability to work flexible hours and on call
Education & Experience:
- Current Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse credentials
- At least one year previous experience working in the field of alcoholism/drug addiction preferred
