Maintenance Technician II

Austin Recovery provides compassionate and effective drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician II.

The Facilities Services Maintenance Technician's primary role is to perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain a 24/7 facilities operation. Responsibilities include maintaining the mechanical, electrical, and life safety equipment as well as, the appearances of the facilities and grounds at various property locations. The position also assists with scheduling and overseeing the work performed by various contractors ensuring they use safe practices do quality work and clean up their work area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Experienced in plumbing, electrical, HAVC, carpentry, sheet rock, irrigation, grounds keeping and other building maintenance duties including janitorial.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Inspects grounds and equipment for safety hazards weekly and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Repairs damaged, broken or inoperative equipment when possible, and assists in arranging for outside repair if necessary.
  • Assumes Maintenance Director responsibilities in case of sickness or vacation.
  • Responds to emergencies when on call.
  • Oversees and may assist assigned contractors ensuring safety, quality and cleanliness of work performed.
  • Escorts contractors in critical areas when required.
  • Provides assistance in office furniture reconfigurations, furniture moves and office moves as requested.
  • Provides facilities-related support for various events such as all-hands meetings, employee lunches, off-site events, and other departmental requests.
  • Performs other related assignments as directed by Director of Maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Must have own tools.
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • High School graduate. Course of Study/Major: General
  • Type of Credentials/Licenses: None Required
  • 5+ years commercial facility/remodel experience
  • Basic but proven with a variety of trades in the maintenance of commercial office space such as the operation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life safety equipment supporting a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment with limited resources.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple simultaneous tasks and projects.
  • Basic PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Outlook.
  • Ability to work various hours and respond to after hour’s emergency request in a on call rotation.

Education and Experience:

  • Five to seven years of facility or commercial construction.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • As required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Communicates orally with management, co-workers and the public in face-to face, one-to-one, and group settings.
  • Stands and walks for extended periods of time.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges.
  • Must be able to bend and stretch and climb ladders.
  • Uses hands to finger, handle and feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
