Outreach and Marketing Assistant
Austin Recovery provides compassionate and effective drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are currently seeking a full-time Outreach and Marketing Assistant.
All Austin Recovery properties are 100% tobacco free environments.
As of December 1, 2011, Austin Recovery will no longer hire individuals who use nicotine products. Applicants who profess to use nicotine will not have their applications processed. Anyone who is offered and accepts a position with Austin Recovery will be tested for nicotine during our regular post-offer pre-employment testing. Applicants who test positive for nicotine will be eliminated from consideration and pending job offers will be rescinded.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of positive relationships with key referral partners including other treatment facilities and related providers, private practitioners, medical professionals, law offices, schools, and affiliated non-profit organizations.
- Offer clinically informed tours of Austin Recovery programs and campuses to existing referral sources, incoming clients and their families, and professional partners.
- Represent Austin Recovery at networking events and professional meetings.
- Maintain Austin Recovery blog with direction from Director of Marketing, including moderating user comments, researching information for blog posts, following up with blog contributors for content, and occasionally writing and posting blogs.
- Make basic updates to Austin Recovery website, including adding job descriptions, monthly article and updating various pages.
- Occasionally draft internal and external communications.
- Occasionally add updates to and communicate externally through Austin Recovery’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.
- Engage in proactive outreach to current and potential referral sources to offer tours (particularly of the Hicks Family Ranch) aimed at both educating the community and promoting Austin Recovery.
- Collect and organize data on specific partners who refer clients to Austin Recovery.
- Assume onsite coordination responsibilities for Second Saturday workshops including facility set up, introduction of the speaker and Austin Recovery to the audience, printing and distribution of materials, and oversight of the workshop [this position would NOT be responsible for booking the speaker].
- Act as primary responsible party for onsite coordination of “Gateway to Recovery” workshops including printing of materials, room set up and take down, and communication with G to R facilitator.
- Participate with clerical and administrative duties related to donor recognition, special events, and referral relations.
- Maintain up to date marketing and outreach materials (both hard copies for distribution as well as soft copies available on internal computer files).
- Aid in special event planning and facilitation (i.e. the annual “Artists on Recovery” fundraiser, Texas Rally for Recovery, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be passionate about the Austin Recovery mission and aiding those seeking recovery.
- Must be reliable and dependable and demonstrate initiative in performing work.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PPT, Publisher) as well as Outlook Mail, Calendar and Contacts functions.
- Ability to work one Saturday morning each month.
- Multi-tasker, quick-learner, self-starter.
- Non-smoker.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in human services, behavioral health, communications, business, or marketing) required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum one year of office/clerical experience.
- Experience or at least familiarity updating websites through user-friendly hosting software.
- Familiarity and experience with WordPress or other online blog tools.
- Experience with social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
- Knowledgeable of recovery, substance abuse treatment, and 12 step programs preferred.
- Background in social services and/or non-profits strongly preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Reliable personal transportation highly recommended to enable participation in offsite meetings and events.
- Local travel frequently required.
- Communicates orally and through writing with management, co-workers and the public in face-to-face, one-to-one, and group settings.
- Regularly uses a telephone for communication.
- Uses office equipment such as computers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Sits for extended time periods.
- May be called up to do basic room set up including moving chairs and tables (maintenance professionals and other staff may be turned to for assistance in the event of an injury and/or physical disability that prevents lifting).
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasional long distance travel may be requested.
