Family Experience

When you, your child, and other family members and loved ones are involved with an addicted person, it can be overwhelming. You may feel confused, helpless, angry and frustrated.

We have a resource for you – Austin Recovery’s Family Experience!

What is Family Experience?

The Family Experience program at Austin Recovery is a three and a half day intensive experience at our Hicks Family Ranch in Buda, Texas, that helps family and friends understand how to take care of themselves.

The program helps participants learn how addiction may have affected them. In understanding how the loved one’s own beliefs and experiences shape their behavior, new and healthier ways of coping can be identified. This intensely educational experience has been developed for family and loved ones as a result of our experience with thousands of family members and evidence-based research on the relationship of family and recovering addicts. We have learned from experience and through evidence-based research that family participation is a vital and positive part of treatment for addiction. We believe that addressing the needs of family members and other loved ones is essential to their health and that of the addicted person.

What does Family Experience include?

Facilitated by masters-level clinicians and licensed addictions specialists, Family Experience provides a broad range of offerings. Through presentations, discussions, and interactive experiences, family members learn different ways to cope with addiction and its impact on them. The program focuses specifically on the needs of the family member and other loved ones. Interaction with your addicted loved one in treatment will only occur toward the end of the program.
