What:
A free education series for families concerned with a loved one's alcohol or drugs use.
  • Understand how the family is affected and discover strategies to help a loved one get the help they need.
  • Learn about addiction and how to help someone who may not be ready to ask for help.



Week #1 Subject:
WHAT IS ADDICTION?
  • Use, Abuse & Dependence
  • Bio-psycho-social-spiritual aspects
  • Stages of Change & Recovery

Week #2 Subject: HOW IS THE FAMILY AFFECTED?
  • A Family Disease
  • Enabling and Codependence



When:
This two part series repeats each month on the first and second Wednesdays from 7 to 9 PM.

(No classes in December).

Who:
Our presenter Mary Boone, LCSW, LCDC has worked in the chemical dependency field for more than 20 years. She has helped hundreds in our community find help for loved ones struggling with addiction. Mary has taught at Austin Community College and maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Austin, Texas.
